2016 NTCC Results & Youth National Development Team

Team Alberta had some great performances and results at the National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC), headlined by the women’s 17U and 18U teams who met up in the gold medal final. The 17U team came out on top winning 3-1 in a very close match. Also on the women’s side, Alberta Blue defeated Ontario Black to bring home a bronze medal in the 16U division, while Alberta White beat Manitoba Gold on the consolation side of the draw.

Seven Alberta athletes were named to the Youth National Development Team, congratulations to: Parker Austin, Claire Cossarini, Kassandra Hordal, Tabitha Martin, Danielle Price, Stella Rains, and Myja Wildenhoff.

The men were competing in Kingston, Ontario at Queen’s University. Team Alberta’s 17U & 18U teams had the unfortunate circumstance of meeting up in the first round of playoffs.  The 17U team were the better team on this day, winning in straight sets 3-0. The 18U team would win all their remaining matches to finish in fifth place, while the 17U team defeated Quebec 1 for the bronze medal.  Our 16U team also brought home a bronze medal, beating BC Blue three sets to one.
