IMPORTANT: Communique regarding COVID-19 – Volleyball Season: Cancellations and Suspensions effective April 20th, 2020
In response to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, Volleyball Alberta has made the decision to cancel our below events.
We are very disappointed to have to make this announcement as we know how important these events are to the volleyball community.
The health and safety of our members remains our highest priority; with current modelling for COVID-19 indicating that we have yet to see the peak of this pandemic, all indications show that we will be under public health restrictions for the long haul.

Although we may not be in physical contact, we can still be there for each other! The volleyball community is special, and we still want to connect with you!

1. Should my Club/Team still be practicing?
No, Albertans are prohibited from attending all public recreation facilities and private entertainment facilities.
2. What is your refund policy for cancelled events?
We thank you for the patience you showed as we worked with our Board of Directors, stakeholders, and risk management team to review the appropriate refund policy for each of our cancelled/suspended events.
Our COVID-19 Refund Policy needed to ensure our organization remained financially sustainable, while being aware of the impact on our clubs, teams, and individual members.
3. Has Volleyball Alberta completed all cancelled event refunds?
Yes, Volleyball Alberta completed all cancelled event refunds as of May 15, 2020.
While the refunds from Volleyball Alberta to our Clubs are now completed, please understand that clubs may need additional time to work with their internal boards to determine their club-specific refund amounts and procedures. Each Club has unique circumstances including facility contracts, hotel contracts, coaching honorariums, and policies. Please contact your club’s administration if you have questions about refunds for team fees.
4. Will cancelled tournaments be re-scheduled?
We do not have the capacity to reschedule cancelled tournaments.
5. What about Provincial Shirts – will I still get my order?
We understand how incredibly disappointed our athletes are – we are right there with you! We will extend the deadline to place team orders for Provincials shirts until (March 30, 2020), for any athletes/coaches that would like a memento of the cancelled season. We will ship the team order to the Team Contact at no additional cost.
6. Volleyball Canada National Championships – CANCELLED
March 24, 2020: Volleyball Canada’s 2020 Nationals tournaments, scheduled for May in Edmonton, and 14U events in Halifax, Ottawa and Abbotsford, BC, are now officially cancelled due the COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to monitor all appropriate medical and public safety advice, and we will encourage our members to take all reasonable precautions.
