A working group of club coaches & directors was formed to review Volleyball Alberta’s signing and tryout process; they researched options based on the challenges and circumstances with the current Letter of Intent (LOI) policy. We understand that many clubs outside of the major centres do not utilize an early signing process and wait until after the ASAA Provincials to run tryouts for all their age groups.

Volleyball Alberta supports clubs that choose not to engage in an early signing process and recognize components of this process may not be utilized by all clubs.

One of the main concerns shared with the working group was navigating the level of indoor club volleyball activity during the summer months, making it difficult and challenging for clubs, coaches and athletes.

The new process will provide a break from indoor club volleyball in July and August.  The adjustments should assist clubs in planning so they may maximize the number of teams they can potentially operate (based on the early demand and interest indicated by athletes).
