13U-15U Re-Signing Period & 12U-18U Winter Tryout Period

Volleyball Alberta would like to remind everyone of the upcoming 13U-15U Re-Signing & 12U-18U Winter Tryout Periods, details below. The Winter Tryout Period traditionally begins the first day after the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association (ASAA) Provincial Championship, except in areas that have a City or Regional Junior High School Championship after this date.
Edmonton is the only region in the province that typically holds their Junior High School Championships after the ASAA Championships, and Volleyball Alberta adjusts the Edmonton and local area tryouts for the 13U-15U age classes to have a later start date. This year, the 13U-15U tryouts in the Edmonton and surrounding Region will begin Sunday, December 3, 2023 after the Edmonton Public City Championships. All other Regions and Age Classes may begin the Winter Tryout Period (Sunday, November 26, 2023).

All athletes must have the Youth Development Player (Tryout) membership prior to participating in club tryouts or training.

Resigning Period

13U – 15U Age Groups
November 1 – November 6, 2023

Current sanctioned clubs in good standing (completed and approved 2023/24 club approval) have the opportunity to re-sign athletes within their own club from the 2022/23 club season. VA will have a registry of re-signed athletes and clubs will post on their websites or social media platforms.

The 13U-15U Re-Signing LOI Form will be posted on the Club > General Info page for clubs on Friday, October 27 in preparation for the start of the Re-Signing Period on November 1.

Winter Tryout Period

12U – 18U Age Groups
Begins Sunday, November 26, 2023 (after ASAA Provincial Championship)

Initial offers can only be signed between 7:00am-4:59pm (Mountain Time) on Tuesday, November 28, and expire at 5pm. Offers provided on Tuesday, November 28 or later can only be signed between 7:00am-4:59pm the next day and expire at 5pm.

The LOI Signing Form will be posted on the Club > General Info page for clubs on Friday, November 24 in preparation for the start of the Winter Signing Period on November 26.

13U – 15U Age Groups – Edmonton and surrounding Region Only
Begins Sunday, December 3, 2023

Edmonton is the only region in the province that traditionally holds their Junior High School Championships after the ASAA Championships, therefore the Edmonton and local area tryouts for the 13U-15U age classes begin at a later date. Edmonton’s surrounding area includes Ardrossan, Beaumont, Calmar, Devon, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Morinville, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, and Stony Plain.

Initial offers can only be signed between 7:00am-4:59pm (Mountain Time) on Tuesday, December 5, and expire at 5pm. Offers provided on Tuesday, December 5 or later can only be signed between 7:00am-4:59pm the next day and expire at 5pm.
