Description: Volleyball Alberta and the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta are offering a series of workshops guiding an open learning opportunity for performance planning. This series will help to provide a roadmap through the development of training objectives for a season. Coaches will be led through programming and load management recommendations during specific phases of an athlete’s complete year of training both in season and in the offseason, specifically geared towards a VA club volleyball season. This series should help coaches to more effectively guide club volleyball athletes and teams in order to achieve identified athletic objectives in the correct sequences, at the most appropriate times of the year, and additionally to help navigate the integration of multisport athletes appropriately within these systems.
Training principles covered in these 90 minute workshops have been developed through sport science, and participants will be asked to explore the application of these training phases to their own coaching practices for young athletes within the sport of volleyball.
Coaches will receive 1 PD point per attended session (4 total for all 4).
