Opportunity for Community Groups

March 03, 2023: Volleyball Canada is seeking expressions of interest from community groups to help bring volleyball to newcomers who may not have access to quality sport programming in their communities.
The project is made possible through a Community Sport for All grant from Sport Canada. The grant will provide funding, resources and leadership development to newcomers, immigrants, permanent residents, and refugees across Canada. The funding will be allocated to communities who wish to obtain equipment, program delivery support, training or learn from experienced coaches. The communities may access support for volleyball programming in three age categories: 6-9 years old, 10-12 years old, and 13-18 years old.
“It’s exciting to have the opportunity to provide direct funding for newcomers to establish quality volleyball programs and develop sport leaders within their communities,” says Dawna Sales, Director, Athlete and Coach Pathways. “We look forward to reducing sport participation barriers in programs in Canadian communities with equipment, program delivery, and most importantly, leader and coach training.”
This project will run from March to June 2023.
“We are encouraging expressions of interest from community, cultural and grassroots organizations wanting to provide positive, fun and safe volleyball programming for families and youth,” explains Sales.
Apply now! The application deadline is March 24, 2023.
