The Athlete Development Committee reviewed feedback provided from clubs, teams & coaches regarding the 13U & 14U Age Categories after the completion of the 2018 club season.  The two ideas that were motioned from the committee included:

1. Splitting the 13U Girls Premier #1 into North/South
   1. Reduce cost for 13U Girls teams
   2. Reduce travel for 13U Girls teams
2. Adding a 3^rd Premier tournament to the 14U age category
   1. Increase the number of competitions
   2. Increase the amount of movement between divisions

Volleyball Alberta developed & completed a survey to clubs, teams & coaches regarding the ideas motioned by the Athlete Development Committee. The results were reviewed and in support of the changes in the following amounts:

1. Split the 13U Girls Premier #1 into North/South
   1. Yes – 80%
   2. No – 20%
2. Add a 3^rd Premier Tournament to the 14U Age Category
   1. Yes – 77%
   2. No – 23%

Based on the feedback from our membership, Volleyball Alberta will implement these changes to the 13U & 14U Age Categories for the 2020 club season.

2020 Nationals will be held in Edmonton! Edmonton will be hosting the 15U – 18U age groups. 2020 Nationals will take place from May 13th – 19th.

August 26, 2019: Club President’s meeting. Save-the-date: November 2-3, 2019. Saturday, Nov. 2 in Edmonton and Sunday, Nov. 3 in Calgary, both from 1pm-3pm. Meeting room, agenda details and rsvp link coming soon!

August 21-22, 2019: Staff planning meetings. The 2020 Season Planner isn’t ready yet! Please check back October 1st or later. May 30, 2019: The Volleyball Alberta office is currently working with this schedule to secure our Premiers and Provincials in our preferred cities and venues (gyms). Other important dates (deadlines) and more to come as we receive rental agreements and confirmations from our various booking administrators to confirm our schedule. This schedule is subject to change without direct notice to you. April 10, 2019: At this time, we are not ready to announce age/genders, locations, tournament entry fees and additional important deadline dates. This is a preliminary release of our 2020 Volleyball Alberta Indoor Tournament dates & rationale for changes implemented to the 13U & 14U age categories.
